Florida Water Ski Federation Spring Newsletter

Hello to all FWSF members,

Spring is here and another busy ski season is upon us in full swing. It began back in February with the FSC holding a collegiate tournament at beautiful Sunset lakes, thank you Travers family and crew. Also held at Sunset Lakes was a very successful and well attended junior Development clinic. Thank to Bill Martins & all of the volunteers for once again delivering a great event. Thanks again to the Travers family. Prior to these events there was an invasion from the cold country that hosted a first ever tournament at Eden Lakes in Ft. Myers in March. As April began the scores started to climb with great early season skiing at LaPoint, SCPB, FSC, Isles of Hancock and Ski Fluid where Anna Gay set a pending world record trick score of 10,700. Imagine what is going to happen when things warm up.

As I am writing this the USA Water Ski & Wake Sports Foundation Hall of Fame induction ceremonies have been held and Congratulations to all of the inductees.

Fast approaching is the Big Dawg May 5-6, Sunset Cup/MLCQ at Sunset Lakes May 18-20 and followed by the Masters in Callaway Gardens, GA.

The Florida State Championships will be held at Stillwater Lakes in Palm Bay on July 14-15 and you should get your entry in early. See the Southern Regional Guide for the tournament details. Remember, the FWSF summer meeting, which is planned for Friday night at the host hotel and the FWSF Hall of Fame induction ceremonies on Saturday evening at the Banquet (details to follow soon). During the FWSF summer meeting the election of your officers will take place. For those of you that may be interested in an exciting position as an FWSF officer or council person please make plans to attend the meeting on Friday night. I will not be seeking a position in the board for the 2019 season. I would like to thank all of the officers and council persons for all that they do.

Hope everyone has a great ski season and enjoys the Florida weather & hanging out with friends young and old.

All the best, Gordon West
