Howard “Buster” MacCalla

Howard “Buster” MacCalla of Haines City was the role model for men’s jumping in the 1950s and 1960s. As a skier at world famous Cypress Gardens, MacCalla honed his skills in all events, and consistently won jumping titles at all the major tournaments of the time. In 1953 he won the men’s jumping title and placed third in tricks at the Water Ski World Championships He repeated as world jumping champion in 1959. He was the Show and Tournament Director at Cypress Gardens for many years. (Deceased)
