The skiing at the 2019 Florida State Championships presented by Ski Fluid and Action Water Sports this past weekend produced many record setting performances and personal bests for the competitors. Our thanks to Kyle Eade and the members of the Ski Fluid Water Ski Club, for hosting a great tournament.
Records set this past weekend were mainly in the mature divisions, but there were many PB’s set by our up and coming younger skiers:
Women 7 – Leza Harrison tied the slalom record with a performance of 3 buoys at 49kph on a 12m line tying the record set by Cyndi Benzel last year.
Master Women – Brenda Nichols established new records for Master Women. In tricks she scored 2010 points, in jumping her distance was 128’ 38.9m at 51kph 5’ ramp and she established the overall record at 3023.9.
Open Women – Brooke Baldwin upped the slalom record of .5 buoy at 10.75m set by Samantha Dumala in 2015 to 2 buoys on the 10.75m line at 55kph.
Boys 2 – Erick Macias-sedan shattered the trick record set in 1986 by Michael McCormick with a score of 6350, with a new record setting performance of 7690 points.
Men 6 – Mark Needham tied the slalom record set by Louis Alcamo in 2015 with a score of 3 buoys at 55kph on an 11.25m line.
Men 9 – Skip Dunlap tied the slalom record set by Phil Brodt in 2016 with a score of 4 buoys at 49kph on an 12m line.
Men 9 – Stan Switzer set a new record in tricks with a score of 2520 points eclipsing the record set by Harry Price of 1440 points in 2006. He also upped the overall r3cord to 3176.5 beating the old record score of 2457.4 set by Harry Price in 2006.
