George Shetter

Inducted into the Florida Water Ski Federation Hall of Fame 2003

George Shetter of Groveland and now residing in the Netherlands, Antilles had a hand in shaping the sport of water skiing in 1977 when he began one of the first newsstand water ski magazines, Spray. His publication was geared toward both recreational and competitive water skiers and featured beautiful full-color photos of skiers in action as well as lovely bathing suit models and articles on every skiing subject. Shetter was also involved in creating one of the first water ski training centers in the United States and worked toward promoting water skiing as a collegiate sport.
