Ruth Johnston

Inducted into the Florida Water Ski Federation Hall of Fame 2008

Ruth Johnston of Mulberry is a former member of the Greater Miami Ski Club and the Lakeland Water Ski Club. She and her husband, Richard, moved to Lakeland from Miami in 1973. In the early 1980s they along with Stan and Donna Switzer, purchased the property in Mulberry Fla., known today as Ski Paradise. Her contributions to the sport as a competitor and official have been very significant over the years. She has served as chief judge of the Southern Regionals, Water Ski Nationals and Masters. She has served as judge at the U.S. Open, Masters, Moomba Masters and Water Ski World Championships. She is a former AWSA Rules Committee member and executive vice president of the Southern Region. She continues to compete at the regional and national level and remains very active in many areas of the sport.
