Thelma Salmas

American Water Ski Educational Foundation Award of Distinction 1996

Inducted into the Florida Water Ski Federation Hall of Fame 2003

Thelma Salmas of West Palm Beach dominated divisions in competitive water skiing like no other, progressing from Senior Women into the age class changes over the years. In 1973 she became the first senior woman to jump over 100 feet and was an obvious selection for the first U.S. Team to compete in the Senior World Championships. She is one of the more consistent winners among the women over a long period of time. She continues to compete at the regional and national level occasionally.
